Tire condition is extremely important.

Too often, drivers don’t notice the condition of their tires until something happens. Or, drivers have even been known to have the wrong tires on for the driving conditions they are facing. If you’ve ever driven through the snow in less-than-optimal tires, then you know that it can be a real hazard. But what if your car’s tires adapted to the conditions by themselves? This is the idea being developed by a group of engineers in Germany.

The idea for such a tire is to incorporate changeable elements into the tire that can actually change while you drive. This is developed with a series of technical terms that we don’t quite understand, but here you go. The “recipe” includes flexible actuators, piezo-ceramic actuators and shape memory alloys. From what we can gather, this is a very technical way of saying that the tires can change on their own.

Not that we’re not expecting this technology soon, or even in the near future for that matter. So for the meantime, we’ll probably stick with the current tire technology, which has really come a long way from the beginning. Here at Briggs Auto, we offer the best in discount tires in Kansas right here to get you the best deals on tires in Topeka, Manhattan and Lawrence, KS. It’s always exciting to look to the future of technology, but tire technology is not usually something we think of when talking about the “next big thing.” If you ask the group of German engineers though, it is a big deal. We’ll keep this one indexed for the day we hear more.
