GM announced this week it will be investing $600 million in its Fairfax Assembly plant in Kansas City, adding a new paint facility.  This is great news for fellow Kansans, signaling a commitment by GM to have GM assembly continue in the plant.  The investment will see the plant expand by 15% to about 3.7 million square feet.  The Fairfax assembly plant produces the Buick Lacrosse and Chevrolet Malibu and employs over 3500 Kansans to do so.  The groundbreaking was held on Tuesday March 12, 2013 and will lead to 800 to 900 construction jobs in the area as well.  At Briggs Buick you can get into the Consumer Digest “Best Buy” 2013 Buick Lacrosse and experience luxury and safety with Lacrosse’s five-star rating from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration. Chrysler Group to Repay 7.5B of it’s Government Bailout

Saturday, April 30th, 2011

Chrysler Group’s image should get a positive bounce with the automaker‘s repayment of $7.5 billion in government loans by June, CEO Sergio Marchionne said, according to the Detroit News. Chrysler Group is taking out bank loans and selling bonds to repay U.S. and Canadian government loans, the Associated Press reports. A Financial Times editorial said, ―This is a good deal, both for U.S. taxpayers and for the car makers. USA Today said the refinancing package is similar to a homeowner seeking a lower rate on their mortgage, and the AP said Chrysler Group will save millions of dollars in interest payments. ”It’s great they are tuning up their balance sheet by reducing debt,” said Rebecca Lindland of IHS Global Insight, according to the New York Times, “That will help them direct more money towards product development.” (more…)

Gas-Saving Strategy by Buick

Saturday, March 19th, 2011

The U.S. Energy Department has determined that roughly 17% of a vehicle’s fuel is consumed when idling. This information has been used by Buick to design cars that are starting to get better and better gas mileage. If you have an older Buick and aren’t happy at the gas pump, you need to look into trading in your old Buick for an all-new 2011 Buick. Here at Briggs Auto Group, there are quite a few different models available. Whatever type of driver you are and whatever needs you might have, we have the perfect vehicle for you.

The new stop-start engines are going to completely stop the engine when the car is stopped completely. Then, it will instantly come back when the foot comes off the brake. It is expected that this little change is going to dramatically affect the amount of gas mileage that cars get. This is a really great thing for the future of the auto industry. As more models get this technology, gas mileage is going to increase across the board, which is good for everyone involved.
