Classic Penny Trick

Any trick or rule of thumb is a generalization, unique circumstances might be hidden from plain sight or even make your tricks invalid, so if you have the time and are worried, don’t hesitate to schedule an appointment and bring your vehicle in.
That said, there is a classic method to use as a rule of thumb when trying to figure out if your vehicle needs new tires, and it’s called the penny trick. Simply grab a penny and insert it into the tread with Lincoln’s head facing outward. If you do this and ol’ Honest Abe’s forehead is visible, then that means your tire tread has been worn out to a point that it’s time to replace them.
Check the Wear Indicator
Even simpler than this trick, a lot of tires feature actual wear indicators built right into them. You can check out the wear indicator and if your tire tread has become even with the indicator, then it’s time for some new tires.
